Experienced math educator, coach, consultant and author with proven track record in assessing needs, creating and delivering ‘make-sense’ professional development supporting NCTM Standards; an intimate knowledge of math content and methodology; and an established reputation for accessibility in meeting the needs of teachers in the field and the greater educational community on an international level.

Primary Purpose: To develop (concept to delivery) high-quality products and services that respond to a massive international call for mathematics reform in elementary schools, and manage the growth and operation of the company. Beginning with a focus on Atlantic Canada, services have extended to include other provinces in Canada, 3 U.S. states, Trinidad/Tobago and Bhutan.

Classroom Teacher

Taught a variety of grade levels K-6. Led all in-service staff development for mathematics. Was the 1990 recipient of the Marshall McLuhan Distinguished Teacher’s Award.

Designed and delivered Elementary Math Methods (required) course to pre-service and in-service teachers. Responsible for developing conceptual understanding of mathematical ideas specific to curriculum objectives.

Primary Purpose: To assist K-8 teachers and administrators in developing intimate, personal understanding of curriculum-specific mathematical content and its associated methodology. Responsibilities included design and delivery of dozens of in-service staff development sessions for all NB school districts, publication of a monthly support newsletter and participation in steering committees for assessment. Designed and delivered parent courses to reconnect parents to the learning and gain support for mathematics reform.

Primary Purpose: To support teachers, administrators, students and parents in math reform initiatives and increase competency in required mathematical content. Responsibilities included design and delivery of innovative long- and short-term staff development for District 18 schools, one-on-one coaching for struggling teachers, parent training sessions, curriculum mapping and assessment of students and teachers and directional planning for the district.
